MILWAUKEE SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING (MSOE)

Milwaukee , USA

Who We Are

We’re dreamers, thinkers, makers and doers, a small university dedicated to achieving big things.

Mission Statement

MSOE is the university of choice for those seeking an inclusive community of experiential learners driven to solve the complex challenges of today and tomorrow.

Vision Statement

MSOE will set the standard for preparing leaders to solve the diverse technical challenges of the 21st century.

Our Values

Six values are at the core of our campus culture:

  • Collaboration – We value working together across boundaries.
  • Excellence – We value the pursuit and achievement of excellence.
  • Inclusion – We value authentic engagement with diverse people, beliefs and ideas.
  • Innovation – We value creativity and new ideas for lifelong service, discovery and growth.
  • Integrity – We value doing the right thing in a reliable way.
  • Stewardship – We value the responsible use of our resources.
  • Personal Attention From Expert Professors: Don’t expect giant lecture halls or teaching assistants (we don’t have either). Instead, experienced professors — with an average of seven years of industry experience — teach every class and lab. With an average class of just 21 students and lab size of 11 students, you’ll get plenty of personal attention.
  • Real-World Experience Most universities talk about hands-on work, but few can match the hundreds of hours of laboratory experience you’ll get as a student at MSOE. In fact, we have more labs on our campus than classrooms — and they’re all available to undergraduates.
  • Direct Admission If you’ve moved to a new country to study, you want to make sure you get into your preferred program. Unlike some universities that make you wait until sophomore year to apply to the school or department of your choice, we offer direct admission so you can start your major right away.
  • Top-Ranked Programs MSOE’s undergraduate engineering programs have been ranked 10th in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. MSOE is also highly ranked by Forbes, Business Insider, Princeton Review, PayScale Inc. and others.
  • Graduate Outcomes Rates Few universities can beat our average job placement rate of 95 percent — not to mention graduates’ average starting salary of $60,738.

BioMolecular engineering is a diverse, application-driven discipline in the areas of medical, agricultural, environmental, biotechnical, and other related areas. International and national chemical and biological industries seek engineering graduates who are prepared to work at the molecular level in life-sciences related fields. The curriculum of the BioE program is a balanced combination of engineering, math, science, computation and HU/SS courses. Along with rigorous hands-on laboratory training, these courses address the cross-disciplinary nature of biomolecular engineering.

Working at the interface of engineering and molecular biology, graduates from this program solve engineering problems, improve current, and develop new products and processes at the molecular level.

The BioE curriculum prepares graduates to handle the changing face of the chemical and bio-industries, thus allowing flexibility of career opportunities in a dynamic job market. The curriculum also prepares graduates to pursue quality graduate programs nationally and internationally.

Software engineering is based on computer science in the same way other engineering disciplines are based on physical or life sciences. However, it adds an emphasis on issues of requirements, process, design, measurement, analysis and verification, providing a strong foundation in engineering principles and practice as applied to software development.

Software engineering students gain knowledge and skill in all aspects of the software development life cycle, including requirements elicitation and analysis, software architecture, design, construction and verification. They learn to work within and to continuously improve a defined software development process, with the aim of producing high-quality software predictably and efficiently. To provide a basis for this software engineering practice and process, students are grounded in the fundamentals of computer science, including discrete mathematics, data structures, algorithms, computer organization and operating systems.
